Backshot air smelling like an old Compaq computer. No thanks.
When they mass produce the fuck-robots, will you* be fucking robots, or is human to human intimacy too important to you?

On a whim, stopped in at the thrift store on the way home from work and found a Compaq Presario 5000 tower for $10. Who knows if it works but I figure I can't even really find the floppy drive individually for $10 so I can't really come short at any rate.

On the drive from Tāmaki Makaurau in to Te Whanga-nui-a-Tara for #kawaiicon and found an ancient artefact at a roadside stop…

I feel like that Dell aged pretty well, early Dark Mode kind of aesthetic. That Compaq is like… how can we make an iMac while using 90% existing cheap beige parts
I now own all 3 starter pokemon (in their final evolutions!)

Don't know how this 4mo old post found its way into my timeline and the whole thing is amazing but "I been scamming so long I sold the yellow pages to Compaq" has me dead on the floor
This shit ain't nothin to me man. I'm in the White House snorting Special K and pitching continental missile defense. My self-driving scam long like the Trojan War. Shorty wanna invest in magical thinking, that sound like her problem. My chatbot so racist it says the pyramids built by Andrew Jackson

Also, the 1995 computer tech in me is forced to say:

"2 TERRABYTES OF STORAGE FOR $112.00??????" My first PC was a Compaq Pentium I with 16 megabytes of RAM and a ONE GIG hard drive, and it cost over $5000.

Nobody tests the old stuff because nobody wants the other guy to know they don't work after being in the ground for 65 years and are still using compaq computers.

Turns out the semi-stock DVD-ROM drive I use in my Compaq Presario 4112 is, like, not working now. I have nothing else whose color matches the insert for the other slot, and I’m kinda upset. Any ideas what I could put in this that at least somewhat matches, color-wise? […]

I found a backup of my old photos, so I decided that now I will show you something that no one has seen before, the story of a programmer before I switched to game dev. 2006 year, I was doing web development: front and back-end. My first laptop Compaq Presario 2200

Saw Tèa Leonie on a show. Now watching all of "The Naked Truth". She is so beautiful 😍 unfortunately, it comes with 1990's adverts. Gee! A Pentium 4 Compaq Pressario was only $999 in the 1990's 🙄 *sigh*

Maybe not the most surprising thing, but it is extremely cool to me this 30+ year old laptop can run the latest version of Nethack on MS-DOS.

My parents were the early adopter type, they got a bank loan to buy our first computer, a 286 Compaq as I recall. My dad wanted to make sure I was exposed to computers as early as possible. He did not think they were a fad.

It ruled how you could buy the most expensive PC on the market (say, the Compaq Deskpro), and the next year go to Walmart to find low-end AST machines with same or better specs that they were practically giving away. The pace of software and hardware innovation was insane
I think one of the saddest things about being a millennial is remembering a time when technology was advancing in a way that made life better and easier and more exciting instead of actively, intentionally worse

In a nutshell, the way DEC, then Compaq, then HP did the ports of OpenVMS worked with very little emulation. They had ahead-of-time translators for binaries from VAX to Alpha, and from Alpha to Itanium. But the goal for each port was close to 100% source code compatibility, even for VAX MACRO asm.

It was me. I DDOS'd Bluesky with my 1997 Compaq Presario.

Don't underestimate me. Test me again and I will break out the Gateway 2000.

DOS at the time could only address a 32 meg partition -- COMPAQ had its own drivers that could actually handle a 100MB drive. On other systems, you have to partition the drive into 32GB chunks.
