there needs to be some kind of concerted effort to talk to these guys - I guess public fora like ComicCons etc are the only likely opportunities - and elevator pitch them on why AI is such a problem. if they're really that smart they'll listen..... right?
Grant Morrison is stupid as hell about AI? Oh nnooooo that sure would sting if almost every single person or institution I've ever looked up to has completely shown their ass to me over the course of my entire life!!

personally I'm doubling up a bit--doing a bunch of artist alleys--but that's not feasible for everybody, and listen, my publisher doesn't even show up to comiccons because they've deemed it "not worthwhile", so you know. that doesn't leave me feeling especially confident haha

I like how you think, but we ended up at the same stumbling block-social media & finding an audience (&perhaps legitimacy) for these books.IMO indie comiccons & the ubiquity of webcomics bf the giant hub sites really helped legitimize self published comic projects- how do we recreate that hayday?

One of the last comiccons I attended was as red hood in the whole leather jacket and helmet situation and oh my goddddddddddddd 💀💀💀 anyc does LOOK a little better but im definitely scarred by the knowledge of just how many people can fit into the javitz center

Im a big #BuffyTheVampireSlayer fan, I got to #comiccons throughout the years, I like watching TV shows and films, you will prob see quite a few posts on here about above and pictures of me with actors I've met at Comic cons aswell as props and maybe cosplayers too.

When you wrote medievalist I literally though you meant like Renaissance Fair (people dressing up reenacting jousting and eating grilled turkey legs). Don't get me wrong, that would be a draw for a lot of scientists. Perhaps we should start holding scientific meetings near ComicCons?!
