It’s worth noting that for many years doctors refused to wash their hands, not because there was a lack of evidence for it being a life-saving measure, but because it challenged established norms. We are seeing the same regressive phenomenon with masks now.

I do a similar thing with climate change, atmospheric physics is not my specific scientific expertise, but climate change has huge health impacts, and we are all experiencing its impacts so we must all speak up.
