At some point when our Jewish community forms a Chesed Committee (group that organizes material support for the sick, grieving, new parents, etc. in the congregation) I want to have us collect a list of our favorite recipes to make and drop off with others having a hard time.

For Sukkot, one traditional practice is to welcome supernatural guests known as ushpizin. It makes for a valuable opportunity for reflection.

On the first night, the guests are Abraham and Sarah, who represent Chesed, kindness. It is said that their tent was open on all sides to welcome guests.
