It’s been a midwestern autumn over at #CanonChat — consider reading Plainsong and joining us!
Kent Haruf wrote his first drafts "blind" on a manual typewriter; he would pull a woolen cap over his eyes and type without looking at the keys. Punctuation, capitalization, and paragraphs were saved for later drafts. #CanonChat

Just read it with my #CanonChat group. Beautiful novel. I do wonder how well I could teach it to my sophomores. If you do end up teaching it, I’d love to hear how it goes.

6. Possibly *the* Great American Novel. Overwhelming in the way only the greatest are. I’m very happy to have re-read it recently (with my dear friends in the #CanonChat book club over on that other app), and have had several students use it for projects since.

Hopping into tomorrow's Huck Finn discussion at 8, where we're exploring Jim's side of the story. Been mulling over how this flips the perspective we all grew up with - should bring some good insights to the classic river tale. #CanonChat https://www.canonchat.com/home
