#Cannabinoid
"The U.S. Hemp Roundtable, an industry advocacy group, condemned the proposal, estimating it could wipe out 95% of the hemp-derived cannabinoid market, cost 300,000 American jobs, and eliminate $1.5 billion in annual state tax revenue."
How the plan to reopen government could set legal hemp back years and risk 300k jobs
Buried in the 141-page appropriations package is language that could reshape — or dismantle — the $28 billion hemp-derived cannabinoid sector.

Cannabis is name for the plant (albeit with a wide range of strains in terms of cannabinoid molecules). THC, primary cannabinoid for getting high, is brain toxic. But, expanding good quality science studies show there are 90+ different cannabinoids, some with clear pharmacologic health benefits.
so maybe cannabis is not the bogey man? Based on the photo and since I didn't take advanced chemistry, I have no clue after spending time trying to read the study.

So not only did they cave, but the Dems were in-on outlawing all cannabinoid products too in the deal?

Well THAT seems like a great way to purge the stoner votes from the rolls.

Agreed. However, standardized cannabinoid content in products needs to be established. Too much is as ineffective as too little. Unless you want to spend your days baked and marginally functional, smaller dosages often can help with many of the listed maladies without cognitive impairment.

Fortunately, NYS (like Oregon) already regulates cannabis and hemp products separately. Still doesn't solve the discontinuity with federal law (DEA schedule, banking laws, etc.) - that's another battle.

This is deeply misleading. The agricultural section of the bill does NOT ban hemp-derived cannabinoid products that contain less than .3% THC total. www.cannabisbusinesstimes.com/hemp/news/15...

Personally I reject the framing that hemp, cannabis, or any cannabinoid-based product has any moral valence.

Let me get this straight: kratom interacts with the mu-opioid, serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine receptors. That's most of the receptors I know of that psychoactive drugs interact with (cannabinoid and acetylcholine are missing).

I can see why someone with ADHD could easily get addicted.

Hemp is defined as <0.3% delta-9 THC in dry weight. The minibus adds a ban on “any intermediate hemp-derived cannabinoid products which are marketed or sold as a final product or directly to an end consumer for personal or household use,” and sets a limit of 0.4 mg THC per container.
The shutdown deal includes a ban on hemp products that none of its negotiators debated in public.

Disappointing that only 24 senators voted against killing an amendment to strike that ban.

Products that are ingestible made from hemp would be effectively banned if they contain any measurable amount of THC or a THC-like cannabinoid.

The Senate’s version of the bill includes a restrictive hemp provision that redefines federal hemp to exclude most intoxicating cannabinoid products (e.g., delta-8 THC, THCO),

effectively banning their production and sale nationwide after a one-year grace period.
November 10, 2025 at 4:17 PM
The new language replaces that limit with a cap applying to total THC, including delta-8, delta-10, and any other cannabinoid with intoxicating effects. It would also prohibit any hemp-derived cannabinoid that is manufactured outside the plant’s natural processes.

Cbd is part of the cannabinoid spectrum. To say I want “full spectrum” cbd, is basically saying “I want thc in there too”. Which is fine with me, I don’t blame them.
