I'm a sucker for a good Arch-made-easy distro.

Can openSUSE Tumbleweed Compete With CachyOS Performance?
Last week when delivering some CachyOS benchmarks against Fedora 43 and Ubuntu 25.10 on the Framework Desktop with AMD Ryzen AI Max+, a few Phoronix readers wrote in with the question or belief that openSUSE Tumbleweed would better perform against CachyOS given the distribution's select x86_64-v3 packages and other advantages. As it's been a while since running any benchmarks of the rolling-release openSUSE Tumbleweed, here are those benchmarks now in the mix for seeing how the performance compares.

CachyOS Continues Delivering Leading Performance Over Ubuntu 25.10, Fedora Workstation 43
With Intel having sunset Clear Linux, when it comes to aggressive out-of-the-box Linux performance there is the Arch Linux based CachyOS as the leading contender.

Well it is based on ubuntu which i heard is based on debian
Was originally going for cachyos which is arch based, but i heard it requires more manual intervention and more suitable for advanced users so i grabbed that pop!_os thing instead

Well this was an interesting little weekend project
Completely replaced SteamOS with CachyOS Handheld Edition
Stuffed it with my emulation library and a bunch of recomp ports and such
Functionally not much different than before, but it does feel a bit smoother, and desktop is more viable

Hay varias opciones:
- Si quieres jugar + programar u otras cosas -> Pop OS!
- Si solo quieres jugar -> Bazzite
Yo uso CachyOS, pero es más "inestable" al ser rolling release. Para juegos "de otras plataformas" los puedes añadir como juego externo en steam o usar umu-launcher

yeah. flatseal does the trick with folders and what not, but eh i'll probably stick with arch/aur (cachyos optimized) packages and keep it old school for now.

i had to give up on installing windows but managed to fix the only reason i wanted to - playing Master of Command. But the Experimental Bleeding Edge version of Proton makes that possible I found out so... #cachyos it is :D

I am trying out CachyOS this month. So far, it's been seamless, everything worked straight out of the box (with an Nvidia GPU) and runs super smooth. My Godot project transferred over without issues and it's been great so far. Might get rid of Windows entirely if this month goes well.
Once again:

If you're thinking about Arch, CachyOS is a great entry point. I've been using it for 2 months now with KDE Plasma and I love it. No issues I haven't been able to fix so far.

The clip studio webapp thing that lets you access your account and cloud storage and the asset store and such does not work well at all
But if I can still manage to get all my assets moved over to my cachyOS install then it shouldn't be too much of a drawback, gotta just work around it

CachyOS has been a good experience. Learning a lot and will stick with this Linux distro. Very new to Linux, so lots to learn.
Sometimes Steam's download bar doesn't move when downloading. That or the came opens cropped until I Alt+Enter.
Yet, mostly, it's been fun.

Rant about a tech issue incoming; feel free to ignore this, but ideas are appreciated!
Since Windows is no longer an option for the PCs in our house, I've installed CachyOS on mine, totally without running into problems. 👍

I switched over to CachyOS (Arch) a while ago, and it's honestly made me enjoy using my PC so much more.
Takes a while to get used to, but in the end you can do almost everything you could on Windows, with just a lot more control over everything.

oh but also it kinda seems like it just runs on cachyos fine without having to do anything extra?

Okay, honestly, I have no idea if this is going to work. But so far, I have the Duet Night Abyss launcher up and running on Linux. Time to see if the game works, too.
It's also time to see if they copied Warframe well enough to make it fun.

Nuking Windows entirely for #CachyOS because dual booting is buggy on my system
