Wonderful to see H.E. Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of Armenia, at #IPBES12.

In the spirit of the #BizBiodiversity Assessment, we agreed on the importance of engaging with businesses for accelerated #KMGBF implementation, and for making #COP17Armenia a success.

On the sidelines of #CITESCoP20 I thanked Dr Marina Robles, Vice-Minister of Biodiversity and Environmental Restoration and the Mexican delegation for their commitment. We discussed cooperation, strengthening synergies among Rio Conventions, the 7th national reports & expectations for #COP17Armenia.

Today the #COP30 side-event organized by Armenia addressed the need for coherence across biodiversity-related policies, in line with Decision 16/22 of the Parties to the CBD.

Delighted to see that #COP17Armenia will build on #COP16Colombia outcomes to take the synergy agenda forward.

The #COP17Armenia side-event at #SB8J_1 highlighted the need to:

-build on #COP16Colombia achievements.
-accelerate the #KMGBF implementation.
-foster synergies between the nature & climate agendas, and streamline national implementation.

This week in Yerevan, the CBD Secretariat took part in a briefing for diplomatic missions that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia convened. This included a reflection on what constitutes success at #COP17Armenia and how to make it happen through multilateral cooperation.

Next year the review of progress in the #KMGBF implementation at #COP17Armenia will be an important milestone towards the 2026 UN Water Conference.

Armenia, represented by H.E. Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment, and @unbiodiversity.bsky.social signed the Host Government Agreement for #COP17Armenia (Oct 2026) in Yerevan.
