#CHI2022
Sleepy, but very excited for the Dreaming Disability Justice workshop at #CHI2022 today! Possibly one of the only reasons I would wake up at 5:30am on a Friday. 😊😊

The video recording of my #CHI2022 presentation is also live here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T29DWCxYoA

How many secret #BTSARMY things did I leave "hidden" in this video? (I don't actually know the total 😂😂) Hey, it's a video about play, I had to make it playful 💜💜

Apropos reviewing requests for #chi2022: My policy is to only review for venues that are either fully #openaccess or where I have at least one submission that year.

If publishers are expecting free labor, they should make the fruits free, too. Looking at you @ieeevis & @acm_chi

I'm putting a list together of my favorite HCI ethnographies, specifically ones that have been published at CHI. Would love to hear your favorites to broaden out my list! Self-promotion very much appreciated.

Just curious: how many people in my network are planning on going to #CHI2022 in person?

It's been fun #CHI2022! Bye, New Orleans! I'll definitely be back!

Any #BTSARMY going to #CHI2022 this year? Wanna meet up?

I was going to help with a course proposal for #chi2022 for open practices. But I dropped out because CHI expects course teachers to pay to register for the conference. Pay to teach? Nope!

I am angry. I am disappointed.

Every time I open my academic twitter account, there are posts with new positive covid cases coming out of #CHI2022. So while I sit here waiting for what now feels like the inevitable, I am reflecting.

Just so you're updated: we've reached the "eating chocolate pudding with whip cream secretly in my office for dinner" stage of the #chi2022 submission cycle. #academicmama

Thinking about how cool it was in CHI2022 to watch a keynote from a speaker who did a ton of background research on our community to be able to connect her research to our field in a meaningful way.

CHI submissions: We built an app, which we vaguely describe in this paper

Reviewer: Can I see the source code? Or even use the app?

SCs: Those are unacceptable demands! We'll replace this reviewer!

Alright I just registered for and booked my (very refundable) flight to #CHI2022. Let's do this!

I am very excited to share our #CHI2022 paper, "ARMY’s Magic Shop: Understanding the Collaborative Construction of Playful Places in Online Communities."

This is my first full length publication of my ethnographic work as a member of #BTSARMY. 💜

Is there some place to submit a comment or statement of concern for a #chi2022? If not, I'll just post it as an OSF preprint.

This has come up several times in conversation this week and I was reminded by a friend (thank you, friend) that I had written this whole thread (a year ago? wtf?). Anyway, for those curious, my thoughts (cc: #CHI2022)
I've been thinking a lot about this today as we've all been working through this. So I thought I’d put a thread together: how I conduct community-based research ethically, help my community, raise awareness, & still be rigorous in my science. +

First day of #CHI2022 in the bag! Love seeing so many lovely, familiar faces at the Researcher Wellbeing Workshop. Thank you for the reflective conversation! Ready to bring some ideas back to my own lab. 💜

Nothing says "three day weekend" like writing nonstop all three days of the weekend. How's everyone else feeling about their #chi2022 papers?

My review for the #CHI2022 paper: "Aperitif: Scaffolding Preregistrations to Automatically Generate Analysis Code and Methods Descriptions".
The survey of preregistration in HCI is great. But it also advertises a very questionable analysis tool.

I am, as usual, disappointed in the CHI review process that seems to always result in major validity issues getting buried in the limitations section.

So for any #chi2022 paper I reviewed that gets published, I will publish my review and sign it.

Lunch with the #CHI2022 student volunteers has definitely been the highlight of my week.
