The carbon market is not the way to do CO₂ removal (CDR). If we're serious about this, it has to be a government-led effort.
‘There is no money’: As carbon markets collapse, what happens to the forests they promised to protect?
After it was found most offsets did not represent real carbon reductions, the money dried up. But successful schemes such as Kasigau in Kenya now face a stark future

HMS Petersfield's captain was Cdr D. C. Lang. It was his first command. Navigating officer Lt Geoffrey Pratt was also holding his post for the first time. Admiral Kelly took a close and critical interest in their handling of the ship, and clearly became a rather overbearing presence. [2/7]

Here's a downstream effect of the backlash against the power of the 2018-2022 global movement for decarbonization—a backlash, I believe, that was driven largely by the realization among LIBERAL elites (eg Gates) that CDR was too expensive and difficult to offset the continued use of fossil fuels.
The Post (me and @kcrowebasspro.bsky.social) analyzed the social media posts and appearances of prominent politicians across the country.

We found that no one is talking about climate change anymore. In 2025, mentions are 60% lower than in 2024.

Forest and other biomass techniques might be the most cost-effective methods of CO₂ removal (CDR), but they're certainly not the most effective. But if you're only interested in greenwashing, why waste your money on real CDR?

Cdr Lang put much of the blame for the loss on Admiral Kelly, who had constantly interfered with and overruled his decisions and undermined his confidence. Kelly, called as a witness, denied being overbearing and criticised Lang for poor seamanship, inexperience and weakness of character. [5/7]

Dr William F. Lamb at @pik-potsdam.bsky.social highlights the limited progress on #CDR in G20 pledges. He notes that while emission cuts are a priority, most countries lack clear, credible plans to scale CDR in line with climate goals.

Fires were started and ammunition exploded, killing many of the embarked troops. One shell hit the bridge, killing Lt Cdr Peter Meyrick, Walney’s captain, and 15 other officers and ratings. Peters, despite being blinded in one eye and wounded in the shoulder, took command of Walney.

Yikes. Blake, are you okay man? Because, wow, this was more than what Cdr Salamander was advocating for weeks ago and his premise began with "Setting legal questions aside..."

I also gave Enya a CDR compilation of artists who cite her as an influence – Chris Carter, @gazelletwin.bsky.social @hollyherndon.bsky.social. etc etc. I hope she listened to it!

The more I look at this, the more it looks like a CDr with a sticker on like you used to get from the dodgy guy down the market. #ReggaeSky
This #StoneColdClassic just turned up, CD reissue from their Bandcamp, which is still available on there for £15, but some chancer is already taking the piss on the 'cogs.

The nastiest movement you’ve seen in your life, lemme tell ya
Also don’t get it twisted, 5 cooldown points and the voodoo cdr tweak on Drain and Corruption did save my ass a lot

#DDG85 is named after #U.S.Navy fighter ace CDR Dave McCampbell, who was raised in #WestPalmBeach, #Florida. The ship made a port call there, and I was able to go aboard as a young 18 year old DEPer. 22 years later both me and this lovely lady are still going strong. #RelentlessinBattle #FlyNavy

We have tried to stay within feasibility limits on CDR & avoid mad reliance on tree-planting. But this is still a lot of CDR.

This CDR is not compensating for fossil fuels – which are phased out fully.

The choice of fossil phaseout OR removals was always a dumb one. It’s no longer a choice we have

I served with MG work when he was a LTC BN CDR in Afghanistan in 2012. Not surprised about his accomplishments since then. He was an extremely competent leader.

MD was competing with the CDR(W) in the early 90tis.
Almost the same audio length.

DVD came in the mid/late 90tis
Laserwars? I only remember a "war" between Blu-Ray vs. HD DVD

But what do I know, my only interest was how much data it could store.
