Evening at the fabulous Coalbrookdale Inn, former CAMRA Champion Pub of the Year, back to its best for sure after a few years in the doldrums.

Sorry this is ending up a running commentary on the podcast but I ended up on a national committee in CAMRA after I had an article published that said pubs should be more family friendly.

Thank you to @europeanbarguide.bsky.social for recommendations in Berlin. Time prevented us checking them all but we took up two excellent options as pictured. Another good place was from an old Camra guide -Sophieneck.

It’s a shame because there might be something else happening behind the scenes that we, concerned cllrs & the community groups like the Choral Society & CAMRA don’t know about, but if the council don’t tell us then we can’t report it.
Is two & a half days enough time to respond?

This new corporate events strategy melted its brain with the CAMRA beer festival. It’s run by volunteers, who do it for the love of ale, not to make money & City Hall is a perfect venue, but it’s been treated like it’s a 5-day corporate convention

It was absolutely brilliant to see the CAMRA Alloa Beer Festival so busy at the Town Hall!

A huge well done to all the volunteers and festival goers that made it such a great event!

Thanks to CAMRA for coming down to Parliament. We have so many great pubs in our area, and I really support their drive to make sure they continue to thrive at the centre of our communities. #CAMRA #HazelGrove #LisaSmartMP

If you're a CAMRA member beer score it on the website and if not join and score. No guarantee but every score helps

It says on the CAMRA site that they regularly have 6 real ales on. Not on a Saturday obviously.

Pub 3124, Tappit Hen, Dunblane. Landlady loves wandering around with a stepladder at this reet good n proper Scottish boozer (trying to ignore table reservations) 51p off for being CAMRA! I've had both better and worse Man o' Hoy's. Just seen Andy Murray's gold postbox.

I too have looked round the room and thought it looked like a CAMRA meet-up.

Huge congratulations to Bea and @morrighani.bsky.social for their @britbeerwriters.bsky.social shortlisting. We’re proud to have been allowed to publish your work!
And to our friends in cider, @rachelhendry.bsky.social, Gabe, Jane and Anaïs! Flying the cider flag is sometimes a lonely furrow! 😄

THREAD: Two Bristol community institutions, the annual CAMRA beer festival & Bristol Choral Society, are the latest to be victims of the council decision to corporatise our public-owned venues.

A vinyl shop at the CAMRA festival? Can't imagine there'll be much cross pollination there.

What was the CAMRA-endorsed pub? I’ve been in a lot of busy London pubs recently - the Sutton Arms two weeks ago had them queuing out of the door
November 6, 2025 at 10:59 PM
That picture reminds me of trying to get into a CAMRA-endorsed pub in Hackney the other weekend. I wonder if London venues generally just are busier. In my Mancunian experience a crush at the bar >2 deep is very rare & usually temporary (i.e. caused by some other nearby venue letting out).

Although the sun is shining in this picture, #Corris isn’t always blessed with blue skies and balmy weather. Sometimes, on a grey November day, the best thing to do is hunker down at the Slater’s Arms and sip a medicinal stout

Er bod yr haul yn tywyni yn y llun, nid yw #Corris wastad wedi’i fendithio a thywydd braf. Weithiau, ar ddiwrnod diflas ym mis Tachwedd, y peth gorau i’w wneud yw swatio’n glud yn y Slater’s Arms ac yfed stowt meddyginiaethol
