Found a very important feature today 😌✨
When moving slowly, my character discovered the ancient art of Quantum Trembling ⚡(?)
It's too funny to fix immediately 😂
Any name suggestions for this “technique”?
(I promise it will be fixed… probably.)

While #bugoftheday was fun, it was also very draining to do it every day. I think just posting when I feel like it or when I find something cool suits me better.
As such, here's something I found today. I'm not certain what this is, but it kinda looks like some sort of assassin bug.

Day 120: A Fruit Fly (most likely genus Drosophila).
Although named 'Fruit Flies', these critters belong to a separate family (Drosophilidae) to the Fruit Flies that have become a major agricultural pest in Australia (Tephritidae).
Drosophilids are usually harmless.

(Hint: you're looking for a green Garden Mantis)
This is on a Tree Dahlia. It couldn't have found a better match of plant if it tried.

Day 38: Midges. These might look like mosquitos, but they are in fact slightly different.
An easy way to tell the difference is mosquitos have long back legs that stick out behind them, while midges have long front legs that point forwards.
Also, not all midge species bite.

Day 39: Since I mentioned them yesterday - Mosquitos.
See the way their long back legs poke out behind them.
The 1st pic is a male, the 2nd is a female. You can tell as males have feathery antennae to detect females. They don't bite either, only females do, to feed their eggs.

Day 71: A selection of Green Blowflies. I love the way their metallic blue-green exoskeleton shines.
Unfortunately, their life cycle isn't so beautiful, with maggots feeding largely on dead animal tissue. Sometimes, they also infect living sheep, which isn't pretty. Trust me.

The name longhorn is a bit misleading as it refers to their distinctively long antennae, not actual horns.
These beetles tend to have pretty sizeable mandibles as well, and can give a painful bite if threatened.
