helena's debut FallenCiatokins Summary: Helena von Vestra had never wanted to stand out at a party. She had always been content to wear her baggy clothes, move quietly in the shadows, and be there with a knife if Lady Edelgard ever need such a thing. But now, here she was, dressed in high heels, a flowing black and gold dress, and of course the champagne-colored bow. Her body had changed since she'd started taking Dorothea's magical cocktail, even more than she had expected. The curves around her chest and especially her midsection were certainly not unwanted; she felt like she had truly unlocked a new and better version of herself. She walked in, hand-in-hand with her girlfriend Monica, who stood two heads shorter than her. The fiery red-haired woman had initially driven Helena up the wall,but as time went on, she had begun to respect Monica. After all, they both wanted the same thing — to see Her Majesty's grand ambition come to fruition. Monica and Helena (transfem Hubert) attend a party together as a couple for the first time. <3

Chapter 2: ferdinand Summary: He blinked back tears, thinking about the man who he loved. Hubert was dead. And it was his father’s fault. Desperate to find something else to think about, Ferdinand took his axe and split open another piece of wood. He had become adept at wood-chopping in his new role as the provider of physical labor for the household. It was a way to clear his mind, to focus on a specific goal instead of the looming sorrow that haunted him at every waking moment that he was not occupied. Ferdinand reflects on his role in life after the death of his beloved Hubert.

Wrote a little Edelferdibert for #BlackEaglesWk Day 1: Bonding/Growing Old ♥️
Edelgard never thought she would paint a self-portrait. She certainly never thought she would paint herself at her current age. Or live as long as she has for that matter. When she was younger, she never even imagined herself having the privilege of growing old. Her siblings never had the chance, so she had no reason to believe she would either. But here she is, alive and well. Not just surviving the way she spent most of her life, but thriving with her beloved husbands. On one side of the room, Ferdinand polishes his old armor and weapons-things he has not needed for many years, but tending to them has become a soothing ritual for him. Even with the metal glinting in the sunlight, he shines brighter than anything in the room. He aged not so much in appearance as much as temperment. Rather than the lively crackling fire he was in his youth, he is now more akin to a steady flame. His presence brings warmth and comfort to her and Hubert in a way she never imagined possible. Their husband Hubert sits in a chair nearby, eyes intently focused on his book. He looks quite handsome with his glasses and silver streaks in his hair. Ferdinand clearly thinks so too, judging by the fond glances he directs at Hubert in between polishing armor pieces. Both Edelgard and Ferdinand were concerned about how Hubert would fare in retirement. Ever since childhood, all his time was dedicated to serving Edelgard as her loyal retainer. It took some time, but he settled comfortably into the role of their lover They were pleased to see him learn how to relax and take time for himself. Her eyes return to the canvas in front of her. She isn't quite sure how to paint the fine details of her face. The lines framing her mouth, the wrinkles around her eyes, both formed through years of smiling and laughing with her loved ones. Perhaps Edelgard could not capture every fine detail in her painting, but she could capture her emotions. The hopefulness she feels that others will continue her work of creating a more just society. The love she feels for those lost and those still with her. Hours pass. Edelgard can only tell time has passed based on the change in sunlight. In the past she-and her husbands—may have worried about wasting a day not being productive, but she has no such concern now. She never thought bonding with loved ones could be so simple as enjoying each other's company in comfortable silence. Occasionally her eyes will meet Ferdinand's or Hubert's in a wordless display of affection. She sees the two men exchange similar glances. She feels her heart flutter in her chest every time. Instead of feeing guilty or undeserving of her life, Edelgard decides she will allow herself to feel worthy of love and happiness. For her siblings, for her husbands, and for herself.
