#BitOfJoy
A #BitOfJoy from last month. Ate at my friend’s new restaurant in Houston, Agnes & Sherman. I thoroughly enjoyed this playful Asian American take on diner food. Some things eaten: Savory scallion waffle with sambal honey butter & shrimp toast (like walnut honey prawns but on toast w/ candied pecans)

I've been sharing a #BitOfJoy now and then because we need joy to survive. Today, I discovered that my spouse has tested out 26 different pencils in a notebook. He wrote his thoughts about each one (while using that pencil, of course). This is just one spread about 10 pencils, but there's more!

Today's #BitOfJoy is that an author I admire recommended the exhibit that I curated for @carlemuseum.bsky.social.
Friends in Western Mass: the Grace Lin exhibit at the Eric Carle Museum is fab. There's also an exhibit on endpapers in the middle gallery which includes the roughs for Shaun Tan's endpapers for The Arrival, as well as the finished art. Also Jessica Love's gorgeous endpapers for Julian is a Mermaid.

This is so nerdy, I love it. In case you were wondering, he found the California Republic Palomino to be "the perfect balance."

Anyways, here is the quote that inspired me to start sharing #BitOfJoy

Thinking about this quote a lot lately: "Power demands sad bodies. Power needs sadness because it can dominate it. Joy, in consequence, is resistance, because joy doesn't give up. Joy as a life force leads us in places where sadness never can." - Gilles Deleuze
