#BenjaminZephaniah has always manifested so much of the heart of Birmingham to me. I cried when he passed. His words have always guided me to try to be better - kinder, funnier & wiser.

theanarchistlibrary.org/library/benj.... Deep inside I say a big thank you to the wonderful and sadly lost, #BenjaminZephaniah. I saw and really heard him do a poetry gig in my teens and was genuinely inspired. May he rest in peace.

@onlyinbirmingham.bsky.social #Handsworth could teach @RobertJenrick how to live in a global society. #BenjaminZephaniah - spirit of #Birmingham - said "Handsworth for me is...where I learnt all my skills, my communication skills, my hustling skills, my poetic skills, everything."
Jenrick could have visited Handsworth to listen to residents – he chose to pass through and make a judgement based on the colour of their skin. Instead of getting to know our nation of neighbours, he chose racism.

The Tories, Reform and Labour want to divide us.

The Greens say enough is enough.
Robert Jenrick complained of ‘not seeing another white face’ in part of Birmingham

Looking back at my very white childhood of the 1980s #BenjaminZephaniah is one of those people whose words cut right through and punctured a cosy world of ignorance. No idea where I first heard him but I certainly did.

Remembering the vital voice of Benjamin Zephaniah, born #OnThisDay 1958. A poet, activist & performer who knew the power of words:

"If you want to know the temperature of the country, listen to the poets."

His rhythm & insight are missed. #BenjaminZephaniah #Poetry #Activism #DubPoetry
