I've just read about the 'bioscan' omg and it's a scam.

Tired: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Wired: I'm a masked government agent who doesn't need to identify myself and I'm going to bioscan your face whether you like it or not.

Terrifying as the my legit face on my legit DMV license didn't 'match' at the airport bioscan -- took more than one scan and I got my renewed card only weeks before then
I’m sorry, if someone has a birth certificate that proves they were born here but a mobile app with face recognition software disagrees, they will side with the app?

What?
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Earlier in September, @sangerinstitute.bsky.social & @nhm-london.bsky.social organised a Taxonomython focusing on critical specimens from the UK BIOSCAN dataset.

The outcomes of the Taxonomython, funded by @biogeneurope.bsky.social, are impressive: iboleurope.org/uk-bioscan-t...

oh totally but the idea there wouldn't be some sort of "digital handshake" to lock out other mechs from the weapon is what Im talking about.

Like a bioscan on a gun locking out someone it doesn't recognize. (in sci-fi settings)

I loathe #bioscan #biometric tech

#DHS forced me to digitally #fingerprint & do #facescans, about a decade ago, as a “suspicious #Canadian

I choose to request a non-scan 🔎 pat down at #airports.

If a #middle-aged #Woman can’t protect everyone else’s #Travellers’Rights, then what are we doing?

What do the BIOSCAN project and the Duxford Imperial War Museum have in common? They are both interested in things that fly! ✈️ 🐝

It was amazing to be at the Duxford Air Show with @engagewcs.bsky.social to discuss how the BIOSCAN project uses DNA barcoding to study flying insects in the UK 🧬

Negligible. JUNO has taken Stranger-Danger's weapons.

. . .

. . .

. . . ( Can a robot be uncertain? JUNOBOT sure seems it. )

. . . However, there are inconsistencies with Stranger-Danger's bioscan that JUNOBOT cannot correct. Suggest armor removal for more accurate scan.

You have to run through a field covered by ten moving bioscan spotlights with unpredictable patterns. The spotlight activation area is a cone between the light source and the ground spot. Triggering a spotlight initially attracts gunfire from the towers.
