More books to talk about! This is no way a full comprehensive list of everything I’ve read. I feel like these books just had a bigger impact on me than most! HAPPY READING for the books and HAPPY LISTENING for those going to check out DEATH OF THE HEART

Imagine the reaction if Obama had pardoned a leader of the Black Liberation Army like Assata Shakur who then offered to be called upon as a government militia?

Before the uprisings of 2020, there was Assata, Robert Charles, Sayinka Shakur and many others.

Grab BLACK ARMS TO HOLD YOU UP at your local bookstore to meet more of the mothers and fathers of the Black Freedom struggle.

Pretty hilarious response considering Zohran isn’t doing anything to lower police 👮‍♀️ being hired in any capacity.

I love how fear mongering and material life find these kind of schisms.

The fucking NYPD “Union” still has an open letter up infantilizing police about the death of Assata Shakur.

I’m not just talking 📎 tho… Nazis in West 🇩🇪 simply had to turn in their uniforms & “swear fealty.” Just like racist Confederates before that. These extreme views don’t simply *go away* bc your side lost.
🇺🇸 genocide of N Americans inspired Hitler but he thought it was too extreme!

"They call us murderers, but we do not control or enforce a system of racism and oppression that systematically murders Black and Third World people." --Assata Shakur

Rest in Power. We will take the baton now. Now you can rest.

That was nice.

I could have done without Obama putting a two million dollar bounty on Assata Shakur, though.

It is our duty to fight for our freedom.

It is our duty to win.

We must love each other and support *each other*.

We have nothing to lose but our chains.

In freeing Comrade-Sister Assata we have made it clear that such treatment and the "criminal" guilt or innocence of a Black freedom fighter is irrelevant when measured by our people's history of struggle against racist u.s. domination.

Look up Bernie Goetz and know that every cool thing you read about Sliwa has an equally horrific counterpoint. He’s been the same person I assume since birth, a principled man, and an eccentric wildcard. An open bigot AND a fan of Assata Shakur. New York City embodied. Zero pretense.

That said, I do wish Lethem went a little deeper into what he found so tantalizing about the "sloganeering" dialogue of the movie's first 45 minutes as well as its apparent parallel between Assata Shakur and Perfidia Beverly Hills.

This middle-aged Irish guy is currently reading Assata Shakur’s autobiography and OH MY YES YES 🔥
"I have declared war on the rich who prosper on our poverty, the politicians who lie to us with smiling faces, and all the mindless, heartless robots who protect them and their property," - Assata Shakur
