I’m honestly shocked that this story from @globalnews.ca has flown under the radar. Confirmation that Amit Shah, the second-most powerful man in the Indian government, was directly involved in the assassinations on Canadian soil. globalnews.ca/news/1151469...

As Trump continues to carry out illegal, extrajudicial assassinations of alleged drug smugglers in Latin America, it's worth revisiting this incident to see how the country reacted when a similar program mistakenly killed a two white U.S. citizens from the heartland.

One other tidbit:

There were a lot of not-so good things going on. I was 15 in 1960, so those were my 'formative' years, so to speak. And it was marked by the assassinations of JFK, MLK, RFK - which are all permanently imprinted on my mind.

We fucking told you so.

Apropos the dissolution of the ACA, I do think taking away psychiatric medication from a beaten, hungry population, in an era where political assassinations are becoming en vogue again, is shortsighted on the part of the people in charge.

In a series of three coordinated political assassinations, the oligarchy of Funko, Youtooz, and Makeship all fell within quick succession. That night marked the end of the Merch Era, but something far more sinister took its place: The Labubocracy.

Going this far is obviously despicable, and a symptom of the extreme commodification of idol culture, but it's not much different to the Daily Mail's crude character assassinations of Millie Gibson, or how Disney will ignore the heaps of racist backlash it's young WOC stars always get now

Actually no but the early Bonds didn’t need to blur gender bits as they hadn’t gone quite that far yet.
You would be shocked at what kids saw on TV before cable; live assassinations, ground effects after Hiroshima, piles of dead people dumped at Nazi camps, Vietnam dead, people hanging from trees…

⛏️ wouldn’t object to seeing this used more frequently again in intra-Russian power struggles/assassinations

I think essentially everyone but one person who urged me to have faith that Biden would eventually do a course correction, whether after the WCK assassinations, or the May 31st ceasefire proposal, or the election, has conceded to me that my skepticism was correct. Wonder what they think today.

When you really think about the fact that there 450 million guns in this country, the lack of assassinations of politicians speaks pretty highly of how much Americans don’t turn to violence as a political solution.

Right-wing vigilante violence against the left (including assassinations of trade-unionists and environmental activists) has long been a feature of Latin American politics. I sometimes fear that this is in our future in Europe too.

A leading liberal politician has quit in fear of her physical safety. It is a crushing setback for democracy in one of the world’s most open societies, says journalist Martin Gelin

Very few stadiums in the U.S. have been named after politicians. There was RFK Stadium in Washington and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, both named subsequent to the assassinations of their honorees.

Stadiums named after active officeholders? I can't think of one. Anybody?

Not quite true, the problem is that whenever there’s a democratic socialist government, the US strikes (interventions, invasions, assassinations, etc.). Socialism and dictatorships are not synonyms.

Its funny that the Templars are so elite and exclusive that monarchs have no idea they still exist but they are ao numerous that infinite billion assassinations never impact them at all

The dark, sinister, cruel and deranged Trump -- and his fascist clown associates --- are big fans of 'the staged assassination'.

They utilized staged assassinations for political manipulation.

Check out this video series on Twisted Trump's staged assassination in Butler, PA.

And some military leaders are being pushed out because they are unwilling to do things that are illegal or unethical. We now have a military engaged in extrajudicial assassinations. Do you want a military that decides to enthusiastically implement Trumps call to target "the enemy within?"

i think one tail risk i remain moderately worried about is senate assassinations being i think the gameification of appointments and special election would supercharge the salience if it happens once, kinda begs for copycatting

From London to Stockholm to Mexico City, the terror of #IranianRegime knows no borders.

What begins as repression at home turns into intimidation, abductions & assassinations abroad.

For every dissident threatened, journalist hacked, or diplomat targeted, Europe’s security space shrinks. 2/5

Incredible and awakening! It proves that powerful people will do anything for their own self-interests when there's profit in it and a story of "protecting America". Real names, real dates, real assassinations ... incredible.
