Shifting Heights? A 40‐Year Resurvey of Alpine Marmot Distribution in Response to Climate Change
The Alpine marmot (Marmota marmota) is an alpine specialist that might be particularly affected by ongoing warming. Based on historical occurrence data from the year 1982, we resurveyed the marmot oc...

🦫 Climate change has had only a minor impact on marmots near Davos – for now! Using a 40-year-old dataset, we resurveyed marmots along an altitudinal gradient. They now live ~86 m higher, but range margins are unchanged. More here: www.slf.ch/de/news/klim...

🧬 Adaptation to cold is a major evolutionary force shaping alpine plants.
But biotic interactions, like herbivory, also play a role, even in the harshest environments. (9/9)

🌿 Thrilled to have hosted Margherita Tognela, a PhD student from @UniPavia, last autumn! Her work on plant traits helping alpine species survive climate change is groundbreaking. Plus, she’s uncovering how tundra fires impact Arctic plant regeneration - stay tuned for her findings! #AlpineEcology
