Nuclear hormone-sensitive lipase regulates adipose tissue mass and adipocyte metabolism
Dufau, Recazens, et al. identified the neutral lipase HSL in the nucleus of adipocytes, where it modulates gene expression. The trafficking of HSL between the nucleus and the cytosol is under the cont...

Adipocyte-derived ferroptotic signaling mitigates obesity
Wang et al. show that a ferroptosis signature is compromised in adipose tissues of humans and mice with obesity. By constraining HIF1α availability, ferroptotic signaling in adipocytes reduces lipid accumulation and increases thermogenesis via a c-Myc-Pgc1β axis, and thus, targeting this pathway may prevent or treat obesity and metabolic disorders.

Ultimately, our findings suggest that larger adipocytes constitute a distinct cell population within mammary adipose tissue and increase lipid transfer to invading cancer cells. As a result, we propose that adipocyte size could serve as a prognostic biomarker for breast cancer patients. 5/5

There is emerging evidence that organochlorine and organophosphorus insecticide exposure may be linked to excessive weight gain and symptoms of diabetes. However, there is a lack of knowledge for other types of insecticides with potential influence on obesity and diabetes. Thus, the purpose of this …

Fat cells never forget
We are getting a better understanding of why it is so hard to keep off the pounds. Epigenetics Reminds Adipocytes of their Obese Past After Weight Loss The age-old saying “a moment on the lips, forever on the hips” just got a modern update thanks to an epigenome-based study of obesity! New research now describes the existence of epigenetic memory in the adipose tissue of obese individuals that persists after significant weight loss.

How does epigenetics impact weight loss efforts?

This study uses single-nucleus RNA-seq and a collection of other assays - including CUT&Tag! - to show that adipocytes retain a "memory" of obesity that is linked with rebound weight gain in mice.

Stumbled upon this by accident but it's pretty neat- in mice fed a high fat diet, tirzepatide given intracerebroventricularly is able to induce weight loss- but it seems that it does this by promoting lipolysis and thermogenesis in adipocytes via neural connections to those tissues.
Tirzepatide reduces body weight by increasing fat utilization via the central nervous system‐adipose tissue axis in male mice
Aims Tirzepatide, a dual glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist, demonstrates promise as a potent medication for obesity. However, th...
