a small-ish horned lizard (referred to as "horny toads" by my mom), one of the staples of the desert scrub, keeping a watchful eye on the viewer while sitting among dried weeds & gravel a close-up of I'm not entirely sure what, best guess some fossils of ancient oceanic life of some sort? hundreds of skinny tubes, many broken off, a soft pastel orange color the rusted remnants of an iron grenade, likely one that was used for blasting tunnels to clear out a mine shaft; iron shrapnel bent into a ball shape, with a bit of lichen growing on it six iron posts surrounding a pile of rocks organized in a rectangular fashion, marking what I believe to be the entrance to a former mining operation; dozens more expired iron explosives litter the ground, surrounded by dried plants & bushy chapparal trees
