New Delhi: UIDAI has waives charges for Aadhaar Biometric updates for children aged 7–15, benefiting nearly 6 crore children. The waiver of MBU charges came into effect on 1st October 2025 and will remain in force for one year. A child under the age of five enrols for Aadhaar by providing the photograph, name, date of birth, gender, address and birth certificate. The fingerprints and iris biometrics of a child are not captured for Aadhaar enrolment below the age of five because these are not mature at that age. As per existing rules, therefore, fingerprints, iris and photo are mandatorily required to be updated in his/her Aadhaar when the child reaches the age of five years.

New Delhi, Nov 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) The ECI told the Supreme Court that Aadhaar is being used only to verify the identity of applicants seeking inclusion in electoral rolls, and not as proof of citizenship or basis for adding or deleting names from voter list, a lawyer said on Saturday. In an affidavit filed in the Apex Court, the poll panel said it has issued clarification and instructions to officials that Aadhaar card should not be used as a basis for adding or deleting names from the voter list as per Section 23(4) of the Representation of the People Act.

The Election Commission of India has told the Supreme Court that it had already issued instructions for using the Aadhaar card as proof of identity and not of citizenship, for inclusion or exclusion in the revised voter list of Bihar. In a reply filed in the top court, the poll panel said that the court on September 8 had already clarified the usage of Aadhaar for updating the voter list.
