set astc decompression to use gpu and disable recompression. you do need a pretty fast gpu with at least 8gb vram for this. mine has 4 so i can only watch like 2 cutscenes before it starts stuttering again

Looks like there are vendor differences in the way ASTC is decoded when using the 8bit decode mode. Is the rounding from fp16 to 8 bit not specified exactly?

tip for starting out on a switch game port: crunch every texture down to 256x256px ASTC 8x8block compression to free up RAM usage, then start adjusting the stuff that looks too bad at that res/compression up by eye to find the max levels you can get away with in general.

I'm surprised to see that Firefox only supports the BC1-BC5 compressed textures on macOS. It does expose BC7/ASTC/ETC2 on Android, though.
