📣New paper📣
We measured #VOC & #CO2 fluxes from 3 ponds in a peatland forest using floating chambers. Understanding of freshwater ecosystems as VOC sources is poor, so this work led by Y. Qin, published in #ASLO_LO provides important new data.

New paper 🚨 in #ASLO_LO @aslo.org describes a new proxy to assess the degree of photodegradation☀️of organic matter in the #Arctic Ocean. This is posed to increase with reduced #Arctic sea ice cover and this new method could be a way to monitor this in lack of other ways.

New paper alert! ⚠️ This was some very fun work done with my colleague Dr. Longhuan Zhu at UNH. We explored how plant motion affects light exposure in seagrass meadows. Now published in #aslo_lo! @aslo.org doi.org/10.1002/lno....
Wave‐driven plant reconfiguration modifies light availability in seagrass meadows
Seagrasses are considered foundation species in marine and estuarine ecosystems by contributing biomass, providing habitat, and damping waves and currents. Globally, seagrass health and primary produ....

Our latest paper now out in #aslo_LO where we show that microzooplankton induce longer chains in (some) chain-forming diatoms aslopubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....
Microzooplankton grazers induce chain length plasticity in colonial diatoms
Many diatoms form long chains and the distribution of chain lengths within a species depends on several environmental factors, among them grazing risk. Larger grazers, such as copepods, efficiently h...
