also didn't get to start coding today b/c all the pre-coding setup took way longer than i thought it would and now i'm tired and just want to rest since i'm still sick. but hopefully coding will start tomorrow!!

i'm very sick today and went to the doctor for an infection, so i didn't get much done today. i'm in a lot of pain and haven't really slept the past couple of days...but i still managed to learn a little bit more and set up some basic files, so that's enough for me!!

learning how to add collisions to my game map and starting to implement them. it feels like a lot to learn at once but also very doable, so progress is going ok so far

collected a TON of inspirational images and examples for maps now that i'm starting to design more of the world outside of the player's home. working from my original rough ideas for areas i wanted to put in and trying actually design full areas now. it's v fun

i started working on objects that the player can interact with in the house, and having text come up when the player clicks on something. it's slow going and i need to debug some stuff, but it's getting there...

been sick but back at it again! i removed snapping to the 16x16 grid b/c it made the walk animation too clunky and it was too difficult to have that rn while trying to fix the animation. fixed the walk animation tho!!! now gonna work on adding collisions

planned out the design and buildings for the last major city in my game!! all the major towns/cities have been planned out now!! next i'll be working on the other areas in the game and smaller towns

i have finally recovered from pneumonia so i'm back at it again!!
ghost's house is all assembled now! colours might change, but for now this is what i'm working with. i learned how to do collisions but i forgot so i'll have to relearn that tomorrow

i spent a lot of time recolouring the old tileset and sprites i made, to better fit the goofier, fun mood of the game i want to make; i felt like the original tileset i made for the house was too moody and bleak. it's not perfect, but i am much happier with it now ♥(ノ´∀`)

i finished all the walk sprites for my main character and put them into my game so the player is able to walk any direction now and have the sprite turn/move accordingly. Now i'm off to make the tile set for the MC's house and figure out how to use tiled!

i designed my world map today so i know all the major towns/areas i will need. i also worked on turning my character's design into walk sprites so i can put them into my game asap. i only got the front sprites done, but i'm happy with them so far 〔´∇`〕

Still sick today but got a lot more done. Followed some tutorials to help me set up some basic files since I'm working with libgdx which i've never used before.
i also started designing my two main characters and then the two main antagonists and i love them!!

today i decided on top-down pixel art for my game, since i hadn't fully committed to that before. i spent most of the little bit of time i had to work on my game today on watching/following tutorials for top-down art so i could start making sprites asap (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・✧

i'm starting from scratch to work with python instead! it's been a much easier learning experience for me, and has so far helped me enjoy the dev process a lot more. i've already recreated most of what i had done before, just need to add in the tilesheets again

(1/2) i started some basic sprites for my main character based on the rough designs i did, so i can put them into my game and move them around. i also started on making some basic maps and tile sets, but those will take a long time for me to complete

i was able to make the main character's home in Tiled and load it into my game as the starting point. now i need to add collisions and fix the starting coordinates...maybe tomorrow

i made the tile sheet for the MC's home in greys, and put everything next to each other in another file to test colours. i think i'm happy with the temp colours for now, so next i'll colour the tile sheet and then actually build the house layout

i finished the rough outline for my game and jotting down the things i want to have in it. feels nice to have the outline done so i have something solid to start working off of

i ran my project for the first time just to check out how the game window looked so far, which is always fun to do for the first time ╰(´∀`)╯
i also worked on the design for my main character. hopefully i can post some early pixel art of them soon

worked on coming up with the designs and aesthetics for the major towns/cities in my game and the different buildings that will be in the them, + how they all connect to each other. the concepts for the first 3 are done, so i'll do the other 3 tomorrow
