According to Book of the Later Han:

"冠，古缁布冠也，文儒者之服也。 "武冠，俗谓之大冠，环缨无蕤，以青系为绲，加双鶡尾，竖左右，为鶡冠云。"

Jinxianguan (进贤冠) is the predecessor for the iconic Liangguan-hats, such as the Zhongjingguan (pic 3) or even Zhuge Liang's hat (pic 4).
