Aemet warns of the arrival of snow, winds and heavy rains this week

Rain showers won't let up in Spain. The arrival of storm Marta marked the weekend, bringing very heavy rainfall to much of the country, especially in Andalusia, where the Guadalquivir's flow rose to historic levels. Winds and the maritime storm have also kept the south, east and the Balearics on alert, with gusts up to 90 km/h in the provinces of Almería and Granada. In addition, the presence of a mass of cold air has brought snowfall in Castilla y León and the Pyrenees. This week, Spain will continue under the umbrella, and rain will remain the main feature of the weather in our country. The arrival of a new atmospheric river will favour extensive precipitation, with higher accumulations expected.

Storm Marta sweeps Iberian peninsula just days after Storms Kristin and Leonardo brought deadly flooding and major damage Spain and Portugal have endured another storm over the weekend, just days after the deadly flooding and major damage caused by Storm Kristin and Storm Leonardo last week. Storm Marta passed over the Iberian peninsula on Saturday, bringing fresh torrential rain and killing two people. Storm Kristin killed at least five people after it made landfall on 28 January with Storm Leonardo claiming another victim last Wednesday . The outlook for this week is for more rain across Spain, Portugal and France, especially across north-west Portugal, where more than 100mm is possible during the first half of the week.
