Casi la mitad de nuevos casos de cáncer registrados anualmente en el mundo, alrededor de siete millones, son evitables y su detección precoz podría salvar numerosas vidas, según un informe publicado hoy, en Ginebra, por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) con motivo del Día Mundial del Cáncer, que se celebrará mañana. Con motivo de esta celebración, la OMS advierte sobre las grandes desigualdades y la falta de protección financiera para luchar contra el cáncer en todo el mundo. El 37% de los 7, 1 millones de nuevos casos de cáncer están relacionados con causas evitables que de prevenirse a tiempo podrían reducir considerablemente el número de casos en todo el mundo.
