Bayeux Tapestry insured for 917 million euros due to relocation to the UK

It's an astronomical amount for a work of art. By way of comparison, Salvator Mundi, the Leonardo da Vinci attributed painting showing Jesus as the majestic savior of the world, was sold in 2017 for a record price of $450 million (€382 million).

Bayeux Tapestry: its transfer to England secured for nearly one billion euros

The Bayeux Tapestry will be exhibited in London from September 2026 to July 2027, as part of a historic loan from France to the United Kingdom. According to the Financial Times, the British Treasury will cover the loan up to 800 million pounds.
