I gave up on the idea for a bit, then decided to jam out in ~7 days one of the minigames for newgrounds’ pixel day. people loved it! this was in january 2023, still over two years ago

turns out I didn't learn anything! good has at least 20x the content but is still quite short. here's the first gif from May 2022 where I was trying to get shadows and platforming working. back then I was still leaning heavily into the "jumping into dreams" idea

good comes out in a week. here's some screenshots of the bad game that spawned the idea. it was for a month-long jam and it was my first time doing anything narrative-based. turns out writing dialog and cutscenes is hard! People liked it, but the biggest complaint I got was that it was too short.
