I love waiting 10 years to upgrade my outfield only after my top outfield prospects are already up and I've had the worst production from catcher and SS of any team in the league.

I do think a lot of top teams have a need at 3rd or 1st base so they'll be in on him for sure, but I think I remember seeing him work out in Yankees gear this offseason and it made NPB enforce a league wide ban on non team apparel during practices. 😕

I think it's more about helping certain types of players find the barrel more than it is about being some kind of ultra bat that people are freaking out about.

I think it all comes down to the players using it hit the ball towards the handle more and players not, don't. Being upset about the bigger barrel doesn't make sense to me because if it's within a players normal swing weight you'd assume it would be less dense wood, so maybe similar or less ev.

The players always loved him though and he always got out in front of whatever blame he could take. Managing in the MLB is probably less tactics and coaching and more trying to get 26 head cases through an 8 month war of attrition.

He did have a weird tendency to play "his guys" a lot despite the behest of a lot of fans who thought we probably had better prospects to fill those roles. Whether we did or didn't is another story but his managing felt less progressive despite us being one of the youngest teams in the league.
