The first year of PhD is rather challenging, but it is moments like this that you feel the most appreciative of the work you do and imagine the impact that you can have. In that sense, I am thrilled to be a part of the first cohort (or the Second Vienna Circle, as we call it :) ).

During my bachelor's studies, we examined the Gezi protests as a case study on social movements, and I believe the events of March 19th will have an even greater impact—both for the future and for the study of social movements.

Now that I think, there are 3-4 more examples in Turkey, they were all either candidates or elected MPs from conservative/nationalistic parties: Alpay Ozalan, Saffet Sancakli, Gokhan Zan... etc. These are the most recent ones.
