Well of course they’re not commercial-free; “commercial” is shorthand for “commercial advertisement” (i.e. ad), and an ad in the pre-roll is still an ad. That they might be far more tasteful is a different matter.

People are bored and get excited about superficial change. That’s why they do Liquid Glass.
Granted I’ve barely played with the betas, but my first impression is that Liquid Glass is just a visual update (regression) for the sake of novelty. And hardly as significant as iOS 7 despite the pre-hype.

That WAS Apple’s reason for being, in the old days. Now, it is simply to generate money. (If the old goal is achieved while doing so then that’s a bonus, but not a requirement.)
