Looking for my tribe of like-minded people. Quality over quantity
I'm one of those who gets summer S.A.D. and feels physically attacked by the heat and light of the season, along with a sort of depressed agitation and irritability, making me want to hide away alone.
But I still love beautiful flowers.

Don't you love it when FedEx says your birthday package will be delayed because it's too nice out to deliver it?

There's a beauty in the colors, patterns, and textures of worn-off graffiti. It's like an abstract painting.

A very old species tulip in my garden, fully open in afternoon sun.
My house's previous owner told me the wild tulips were planted in 1991. Amazing to see it blooming now.

I shot this branching heather tip on the way home this afternoon.
I think it's much more striking in silver tone.

Getting an unusual and interesting form here. I often shape a fractal in grayscale to really see the light, shadow, and texture, and later color it up with a gradient.

Mushrooms, nature’s quiet recyclers, breaking down what has ended and weaving it back into the soil, fueling the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth that keeps the earth alive.

Amazing this happens right outside my front door

Happy #EarthDay everyone!

A drawing from a beach vacation along Washington's Pacific coast, in golden afternoon light.

As usual, I couldn't portray the scene completely realistically. I had to make the beach rocks candy-colored. I just can't help myself. 😅

I can't recommend this book more highly for introverts, or anyone with an introvert they love but don't quite understand.

I hope my book will have as much impact for people as this book has had for me.

An older painting I haven't shared in a while. I was just learning to paint then, and had recently started on larger canvases.

It was made using low-quality paints, unfortunately. I just didn't know yet ...

My white trio at their foster home, as posted on Seattle's Alley Can Project adoption website.

It was love at first sight.

I didn’t write a book because I had it all figured out—I wrote it because I didn’t. For too long, I thought being quiet meant being less. But introversion isn’t something to fix. It’s your strength. Your superpower. You are awesome just as you are.

(Book is nearly finished, teasers coming soon)

There are feelings that don’t know how to be sentences.

That’s why I paint.

Because sometimes color speaks louder than language. Because a brush knows things a mouth forgets.

This quote reminds me that not everything we feel has to make sense out loud.

Some stories aren’t told—they’re shown.

WIP: A new abstract painting. It's my second abstract, and I'm enjoying the intuitive freedom of abstraction over representative art so much right now. I'll probably add it to my regular set of styles.
