A focus on making games extremely scalable, to the point they will run on the integrated graphics in most people’s work stations or laptops, could go a long way. Also, shipping decent quality controllers with phones and tablets could make a big difference. Go to the customer.

Walled gardens built on hardware significantly increase barrier to entry. I totally get why companies want exclusives, but there are pros and cons. The current model isn’t very conducive to growing the games industry in my opinion.

It’s more than likely the people he’s shooting are also PVPers, due to the nature of their matchmaking. It’s quite rare for a fully passive player to be matched with a PVPer. I get shot at maybe once every 10-20 matches. Still scummy though.

It’s refreshing to see Steam looking so different than consoles. Much of that is due to launcher exclusivity on PC, but it still points somewhat to PC fostering a different culture, which I believe is healthy for the industry.

This lineup, together with some of the bigger games that hit late last year, made me go out and purchase another Xbox after selling mine last summer. I know most, if not all of these are coming to PS eventually, but I don't want to wait.

Stadia was amazing. I had it. I knew it. I still didn’t buy anything because I knew it would fail (Google quits on everything) and didn’t want to risk losing all that money.

Nah, not for me. I don’t have the option to play subbed because reading that fast requires my full attention, meaning I can watch either the subs or what’s happening on the screen. Never both.

Generative AI will most certainly make teams smaller because they have bloated to unsustainable sizes and need to be pulled back for the health of the industry. I’m hoping they just spin up more teams rather than letting people go though. One can hope.
