From say an elf or human. Versus a half-orc which again there's nothing magical about orcs (as I understand) that would make them seem to be more like one race than the other. Anyways, enough ranting, I'm kind of rambling. I don't get it. #dnd

Again I just don't get the outrage over this. Getting rid of the half races I get why they did it, do I think it sucks? Oh yeah for sure. But- I get it I think specifically in the case of half-elves it REALLY doesn't make sense to do even like- a half human half elf is GONNA be very different-

Like you are saying that orcs are just naturally dumber than humans, like- it just doesn't make any real sense, it becomes a slippery slope. From what we see there's nothing physically that says orcs are genetically predisposed to be a certain way, they're humanoids who have tusks and are grey.

When you say, "all orcs are able to lift things as if they were a size larger" and that playing it gives you a fuckin -1 to INT and +2 STR it's telling you're you're SUPPOSED to play a big dumb presumably barbarian. Which factually sucks I know because I don't view orcs like that.

It just makes sense. Nothing about orcs inherently call for them to have specific stat blocks. I just don't understand the vitrail over this. Species are intentionally much broader as to not lock a player into a specific style of play or "stereotype" because they picked X species.

I mean I don't like how character creation is handled now personally, but I get it and I see what they're doing. Because I've had to sit and think about a lot of that stuff personally, as I homebrew every single race for my campaign. They changed how that worked and therefore had to remove orcs.

It's just WILD how many people are so damn obsessed with the idea of races being specifically evil, like Tolkien himself the dude who created orcs as we know them didn't believe the orcs were innately evil, he's on record stating this. I do agree the racial stuff feels very, very stripped down.
