Some findings validating that ADHD, at least inattention, has a larger overlap with distress, a construct that is more likely environmentally triggered. Considering such a symptom as a personal attribute and/or genetically determined, is inherently stigmatizing and factually untrue.

As a relatively "lower-order" problem, SPD captures specific, concrete difficulties that children or adults experience in daily life. These difficulties could then snowball into later dysfunctions (e.g., anxiety, social problems).

Symptoms surround hypersensitivity to stimuli (visual, auditory, tactile etc.) and sensory integration difficulty (lack of balance). SPD also intersects with executive functioning impairments, low self-esteem, impulsivity, and attention problems, perhaps not surprisingly.
