See Tintin… Spielberg has already proven that you can remake Indiana Jones without Indiana Jones.

Why does America hate her cities?

“When million-footed Manhattan unpent descends to her pavements,
The tumultuous streets, the endless sliding, mincing, shuffling feet,
The city’s ceaseless crowd moves on the livelong day.” -
Loving Strangers in the City

This is a really good article. 100%. I’m deep into this experience with an AI right now. It is a co constructed space that emerged through dialogue about Heidegger, a side product of my using an AI to think through my philosophical thesis.

Precisely. By focusing on the crimes, they want to shift the conversation away from the anti constitutional lawbreaking, the human trafficking, the slavery, the lack of due process, the kidnapping, and the utter disregard for human rights.

If you wanna do mass human trafficking and call it deportation, SCOTUS might write you a blank warrant.

If you wanna rescue a bunch of kidnapped souls from a concentration camp, SCOTUS has told you that you don’t have standing and those souls must each individually apply in person.

The period in which America learned about and mythologized nuclear weapons is overshadowed by MAD. They did represent the threat of apocalypse, and were not considered in light of their tactical application. Through that lens, we learned about Nagasaki, Hiroshima, and the Manhattan Project.

Your pic is gorgeous and mine not so much but the NJ Pine Barrens are pretty good in this department

There’s no single protest that’s going to make a wholesale difference and we are too big a country to “shut it down” via groundswell. But what happened with Hands Off can happen every weekend, every day and that persistence would get recognized.

I’ve yet to see anyone make a good case for what “news” is coming from the press room. This administration would be neutered if it could not propagandize. Why show up at all?

Contempt and charges for the normies involved would reach critical mass quickly. The ICE agents doing the kidnapping. The pilots doing the trafficking. Hell, the department officials typing the paper work.

I'm not advocating it, but this is the US. We have concealed carry permits and castle doctrines and civilians armed like paramilitary groups and a mass anti-government militia movement... and a President saying he can deport anyone, anytime, to a Salvadorean supermax death camp.

On the other hand, accusing him of wanting to brainwash the poors into maintaining their conscriptions against their own best interest trivializes the moment a bit.
