To absent friends and loved ones.

Death is so taboo in the modern society, and if it wasn't for this practice plus the Death Positive Movement, I don't know how I would have managed Jeff's passing. More folks should celebrate Allhallowtide as it was intended. This is my All Saints setup. Tomorrow I recombobulate for All Souls. (fin)

I first really experienced Dia de los Muertos when I lived in San Diego. The practices weren't alien to me, because All Saints/All Souls is very popular in Mediterranean cultures as well, and growing up Catholic, we always had an ofrenda-adjacent practice. (1)

This is an image that unlocks a visceral core memory as a Floridian. I was 10. The outer bands barely scraped St. Pete, it didn't matter.

I just saw panels of the AIDS Quilt in Austin. All I felt was incredible grief.

Advice from a former street painting artist:
If you feel the urge to color in crosswalks, under no circumstances should you use water to make the soft pastel richer in color, and then set it with hairspray like AquaNet or White Rain to make sure it doesn't wash away easily.
Pics of my work for tax.

Every time an Irish or Italian member of my family opens their mouth and hot air comes out I throw this at them.

I've been asthmatic since I was 3 years old, but i haven't had a major flare/attack in decades. Apparently my 40s comes with a return to puberty in the least fun ways.

Spent the day at Busch Gardens for a passholder preview of Wild Oasis. Crowds broke early because of a storm, and us locals just stick it out and look at the animals rather than go on coasters. Did you know armadillos got the zoomies? You're about to see it.

Further proof that the GOP base votes solely on their own version of "Fuck, Marry, Kill" and "owning the libs", and nothing to do with intelligence or knowledge of the laws of the land.

I suggest folks start buying toothpaste in bulk and squirreling it away. We're reenacting Victorian Britain in the US, complete with children dying in the gutter from tooth abcesses while co-infected with TB and measles, who just got fired from their jobs working at a quarter wage for being late.

I'm so juiced up right now I'm likely to be snubbed for the MLB Hall of Fame.

I really hope this is when Harold Godwinson takes an arrow to the eye for wearing such bad lamellar which wasn't present in 11th Century England, and layers of leather flappy bits.

Give me the bow. Now. I'm doing everybody a favor.

Imagine being months away from your PhD in history, and your mom telling you this. I know she voted for evil this time, the propaganda got her, she's pissed about the action, but still, what does she tell me? That I should have stuck with the major I picked 27 years ago before I tanked in math. (1)
