I don't decide based on critics or audience scores. I read reviews and see what people are saying about movies. Critics reviews as well because they see a LOT more movies than the average person so I find that insight interesting.

These movies ring so hollow. The joy of a magic trick is being amazed that it was accomplished right in front of you and leaving you to wonder how it was done. Here the answer is always and obviously, visual effects.
