Beautiful wife and I celebrated Halloween with tacos and 28 Years Later, and I guess some folks didn't like it? But I thought it was fan-fucking-tastic. Looking forward to Nia DaCosta's Bone Temple, but I hope Garland decides to direct the 3rd one himself instead of walking away from directing.

Now pressing play on REC, which I haven't watched in awhile, and goddamn, "Terror sin pausa", "Terror without pause" is such a good fucking tagline for this I cannot believe they didn't use it everywhere.

I saw the trailer for that 'what if the Gordy the chimp bit from Nope was the whole movie?' movie yesterday, and that inspired me to go rewatch Nope. Still an absolute banger. That cast, that script, those sights and sounds?🤏 Double kudos to the folks behind Jean Jacket's creature design and FX.

Rewatching Saw today, and I'm struck by how small the budget was for it. You can really see where they spent it where it was needed - casting, props, FX, etc - and let some things slide. Like, the sets that look *just enough* like a police station or hospital to get by.

Sinister is playing in the background while I work in some art stuff and, man, I love the dialogue in this flick, and the cast nails it. That opening with Ellison and the sheriff says so much about what's going on without feeling like pure exposition.
