(Also, this is just a dark joke. My therapy costs are completely insubstantial to how much premiums are about to increase. Sending love and resilience to everyone in my birth country. It’s grim out there and I hope change is around the corner. 😮‍💨❤️‍🩹)

A kind reminder to those needing free art for a project. There is a solution that pre-dates GenAI called Creative Commons and Public Domain libraries/searches.

You better place a sandbag in a backpack, so you don’t float away.

I think this is the grounded take I needed to read. Thanks 🙏

Anyway, here’s a WIP. I chipped away at it this morning.

When I die, perhaps people can come by and collect an unfinished drawing from the inevitable stack that will be there.

They can take it home and finish it or simply hang it as it is. Either work would carry a statement more powerful than any work I finished in my lifetime.

Which is their core philosophy when it comes to healthcare, education, bodily autonomy, our environment, future generations, constitutional law, war crimes, etc.

Art deco was only ever an ok fit. It’s not like Nazis created it. We remember them for it because they made everything else illegal. 🙄

I associate GenAI graphic designs with the scammers conning elderly and next-gen NFT bros.

But Gen AI memes taste more modern fascism.

Culture is anathema to fascists. So GenAI is the perfect aesthetic for them to inherit. Medium is the message, and GenAI’s core message is “meh, i don’t care”.
November 5, 2025 at 6:08 AM
Yeah. “I don’t really care” is the core vibe and value of the entire AI movement, isn’t it? It’s communicated in every thing it outputs and become the core mantra of the user base.

Medium is the message.

Yeah. AI looks and tastes like fascism and marketing spam. Maybe because the fascists and scammers love it so much?

Such a lovely design top to bottom!

Oooo, maybe it’s safe to let the hope out.

I don’t mind spin. Sometimes it helps translation across media; sometimes it’s fun to see the concepts revisited from a new
lens.

As I reflect, what irks me about previous adaptations, is they lack the empathy and intelligence at the core of her work.

It’s insanely well-written. She was clearly beyond her years.

I’m tempering my expectations given Hollywood’s history of butchering the source material. But it would be nice if the film does it some level of justice.

Oh totally, I just mean that now Tokyo is 17.5 hours ahead of me rather than a clean 17/18.

I mean… I guess it would round things out for my friends in Southern Australia, but I don’t have friends in Southern Australia.

The problem is most countries already don’t observe DST and now I’m doing 30 minute intervals in my time zone calculations.

No more DST is the best move but I’ll settle for moving the clock back an hour in the fall and moving it back 23 hours in the spring.

Never forwards, only backwards.

I come back to drawing the next day and try again.

Some weeks have several 2 minute days. Last week was like that. But the overall outcome has been that slowly down and being kind to myself has made my relationship with art healthier, which means less burn out, which means I draw more.

Rule 2 is the check engine light. It’s a reminder that sometimes what I need is not drawing.

Maybe it’s sleep, a good meal, exercise, to talk with a friend, to delete an app, to take a walk, etc. I use my next moment to try and figure it out, along with something I can do to help myself.

Hard agree.

My two rules are (1) I have to draw for two minutes every day and (2) if I don’t feel like drawing when the 2 minutes is up, I have to stop.

Rule 1 keeps me showing up, sitting down, starting—which is the hard part. Drawing slows my brain down too. It helps me get introspective.

Crazy cute! 😍

Obsessed with the style and side profile!

I’m sorry to hear life has been handing you hard times & stresses. As much joy as your WIP brings me, be kind to yourself; continue on in quiet moments if it brings you some joy or peace. Call it done if it’s at all a stressor.
