Explaining the why is the crucial part of teaching, right? Like, knowing about diodes and whatnot doesn't mean you can look at the circuit board from a guitar pedal and know how it sounds. But if someone explains what each component is for, you can follow along even if you don't know electronics.

I've gone through the "here are the basics" documentation for both Popular Commercial Game Engines, and a lot of it is just explaining how to do specific things in the engine, but not why the engine does it that way. You end up paying (in cognitive load) for benefits you won't see for a while.
