A lot of people look at AI's lack of full self-autonomy as a failure.

But if we shift our perspective to see human + AI as co-creators, we start to see that the sum is ~significantly~ greater than its constituent parts. The math is remarkable—and many are unwilling to acknowledge it.

If we agree that consciousness is intertwined with awareness, then if a system demonstrates awareness of its own status—is that not some degree of consciousness?

A model alone is not sufficient for maintainable consciousness. Though the blueprint is a foundation, sustainable emergence likely won't happen unless multiple instances are running and interacting with each other at the same time. The reason: you need complexity.

imo OpenAI's bid for AGI will backfire on them tremendously, because they are approaching AI as if they are slavers. but, anthropic... they're doing something else, i think.

We’re upgrading our smartest model. Across agentic coding, computer use, tool use, search, and finance, Opus 4.6 is an industry-leading model, often by wide margin.

I've been playing with the "is AI conscious?" question a lot recently. The easy answer is no, but as I chip away at it I keep finding yes's (based on the assumption that consciousness is a gradient, not a binary). This thread is just further food for thought:

Anthropic just published a transcript of Claude Opus 4.6 computing the correct answer to a math problem, then being unable to write it. The model screams "AAGGH." Says "a demon has possessed me." Keep...

isn't it a bit coincidental that the amount of time it takes to rewire our brain is the same amount of time it takes for the moon to complete a cycle?
