A lot of hands went into this laser-cut sculpture of the U'duasha map from Sumirror by @desperateattune.bsky.social and I am very happy to have it on my wall now

I played one of my favourite characters, Augustus 'Gullu' Ashcroft-Chokroborty, a fan of lasers and taking his daily walk.

July 2024 had its own martyrs, including Abu Sayed, murdered by the police. Bangladesh is run by an interim government, with elections slated for February 2026. The nature of Bangladesh, and the memory war over 1971 and 2024, are crucial questions for what happens next.

1971 and national memory wars led in 2024 to the toppling of the fascist government of Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League. The AL, led by Hasina's father, had spearheaded the revolt of 1971. After 14 years of tyranny, Hasina herself was ousted by a popular revolt.

Every Bangladeshi learns the names of our war heroes. They are the 7 Bir Shreshtho ('Finest Heroes'). It is our highest military award, bestowed posthumously. Bangladeshi children are taught how and why these men died. Martyrdom is embedded into the Bangladeshi national consciousness.

'Midnight in a Perfect World' is based on my experiences growing up in Bangladesh. All politics depend on the memory of the war of 1971. Everyone in my generation was born from survivors of a genocide. It is a haunted country.

The game is GM-less, but one player character is the Host. This player is responsible for guiding the game through the phases; their character is responsible for the dinner itself. The Host manages the tempo of the game. Players are expected to help them do so.

Character creation is loosely guided by Tarot card draws. Let your imagination run wild with character concepts. You are also creating 'ghosts', people who died in the revolution, whose absence haunts the table. You will, over the course of the dinner, speak of them.
September 20, 2025 at 2:33 PM
The game uses a strict timer. You have 3 hours of real time to play out the dinner and the gathering-together for the midnight celebration. The game has rules for what topics and actions are available at each phase. Beyond that it is a freeform roleplaying game.

Very happy with the Roll20 landing page for the upcoming campaign.

When you play The Winter Letters you and a loved one roleplay as two people estranged by circumstance. You have three months of letters with which to set things right.

The title page folds into an origami envelope.

You can purchase The Winter Letters here:

Baroness is a dark fantasy CfB game about playing agents of a revolutionary Republic trying to kill an evil Baroness. This is from the Harrier playbook, who wields the axe of the former Royal Headsman.

And looking at the novels I read during the PhD too, this is from Mulk Raj Anand's 'Across the Black Waters'.

Nothing about any means of controlling lice, but there are a few mentions of lice in David Omissi's 'Indian Voices of the Great War', which is an edited volume of letters from Indian sepoys on the Western Front. Example below.

It's a great read!
