I think we should encourage inaccuracy in how a fantasy game interprets a real world source for inspiration. They should never be one for one. That, too often, leads to policing fantasy for not living up to reality, a standard for which it should not be striving anyway.

Playing a powerful noble type character without any consideration to the consequences of them doing awful things as a noble is boring. Having a fancy title is not a Get Out Of Jail Free Card. Storytelling needs both conflict and consequences to be fun and interesting. Yes. Even in roleplaying.

You don't have to have a reason to dislike something in fiction. It doesn't have to be gross, or icky, or disgusting, or impure. It can just be something you don't like. You don't need to find reasons to hate things. You don't have to justify your dislike by making the thing "morally bad".

Murdering a bunch of NPCs in a derelict or poor district in an RP setting is actually a really low bar and kind of shows a disregard and dehumanization about the less fortunate population, especially in a working class area, when you only do it because 'no one would miss them'.
