Points out that agents keep arresting people and then letting them go without charges because they have no actual evidence

One thing interesting about this comment is later, when discussing the incident in Little Village, he describes fireworks as a serious weapon against his agents, saying they could “kill someone”

Defense is bringing up the shields again. “Approximately 2-3 inch long nails… normal shields for defense would not have these nails shooting from them… these were meant to harm us…” - Witness Hewson

Hewson says he has not seen any agent not having an identifier on their person when working. He said he has had his on since he came to work here from Los Angeles.

Hewson says he has not seen an agent violate the TRO. He said he got the TRO through an email and that him nor his agents have changed operations after the TRO because their actions prior already abided by the TRO.

I’m going to be in the courtroom as long as I can (probably another hour) If anything especially newsworthy happens, will comment here.

Defense’s questioning was often short, and once he asked if the witness thought of ICE agents as “Nazis.” He then asked if the witness thought he was a Nazi, which Ellis said was irrelevant, telling him to “move on.” He often failed to prove (at least to me) that ICE’s use of force was necessary.

Defense responded to this by asking witnesses why they continued to protest, record ICE, etc. if they were so scared like they are claiming. Many replied they felt a responsibility to, or some were too scared and have not protested, recorded, etc.

Prosecution provided multiple witnesses with different backgrounds(clergy, journalists, protestors) all of whom have experienced or witnessed someone else experiencing excessive force from ICE agents. All of them said warnings were not given and that they believe the use of force was not necessary.

Mayor Katrina Thompson and a few of the village trustees are visibly laughing as a resident gives public comment about village corruption allegations including those leveraged at the mayor.

Wonder what judge Ellis will say about the tear-gassing seemingly being use more and more often in neighborhoods …
