Just going to add another plug for The Invention of Nature. Alexander Von Humboldt was super important in the US but gets short shrift in our history books imho. Bonus of accounts of his trips through the South American jungle gathering specimens. You never knew what he would do next.

Waited in line for 2 hours outside and 1.5 hours inside to see President Jimmy Carter lying in state in the Rotunda last week. So worth it. It was such a special experience to visit the Rotunda for the first time, standing in silence in such a beautiful space to honor President Carter.
