Would rather be in the woods. Treaty 1, theology nerd, food justice, climate, ecology, and sometimes dogs. Program manager at A Rocha Canada
One of the best year end summaries! Although this one is a bit lackluster. I'll need to step up my iNaturalist game next year!

Put up this window bird feeder for the first time and it is bringing me great joy. Look at that little chickadee!! (Did you know chickadees brains grow by 30% in the winter so they can remember where they've stashed up to 80,000 seeds! 🤯)

Tim finished building bookshelves for our library/office and we've spent the last couple evenings organizing and filling them up. So satisfying!

Mind you, I didn't discover Sufjan until two years later. But this is still a top album for me. What I actually listened to that year, due to a youth leader's influence, was U2's How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (and a plethora of CCM albums that we don't need to mention)

Working on the annual federal grant application for wage subsidies for summer workers and this is somewhat depressing. It's a bit ironic that they are focusing on both environmental protection and growing the use of AI in the workplace. 🤦‍♀️

Look at this menu! I'm so excited for this year's Boggy River Brunch Fundraiser on Nov 8. It's a really fun way to get to know A Rocha a bit more and eat delicious waffles in the process. Way more fun than a formal gala.

Visiting Riding Mountain National Park for the first time and it is great, even if the weather isn't so great. We went to see the bison today and they were right beside the road. The babies were even frolicking for us.

Thank God for peaches in the summer. Gonna eat so much peach caprese salad this week.

I think I take the same picture of this peony every year in June because it astonishes me every time

We need rain so bad here in Manitoba. Please, please, let this forecast be true. 🙏

It's been 15 years since I lived on Lake Atitlan and it takes my breath away just the same. My goodness, I love this place.

For a heavy soul: go outside and listen to the exuberance of the birds in the morning.

The winter really is long around here, but I do appreciate the early evening sun at this time of year. It's just shines in my office window in such a pleasing way.

Oh good! What about summer sausage? We were gifted this enormous sausage from Ontario, and I wondered how we might eat it all, but perhaps it will sustain us through these dark days.

Christmas dinner 2024: Thai! While we aren't as elaborate as we used to be, with a toddler running around the house, we still managed a pretty good three course meal! Pad Thai with shrimp, peanut satay skewers, fresh mango salad, and salad rolls with peanut sauce.

First year at my sister's & nephew's new place for Christmas. Tim and I got a prime location in the basement with the paint cans! Full points for the cozy Christmas lights though. Actually, I'm not complaining at all. It could be much worse. #duvetknowitschristmas
