In conclusion: gender critical people are basing their arguments on deeply flawed understandings of science. But the ignorance involved runs so deep that even our leading politicians think it's "common sense".

I don't know how we can combat this, other than continuing to defend truth.

Pratchett said: "Most of us need just 'enough' knowledge of the sciences, and it's delivered to us in metaphors and analogies that bite us in the bum if we think they're the same as the truth." I guess he didn't predict that it would be other people that suffered for that ignorance.

Terry Pratchett called this "Lies to children." Kids are taught limited, or sometimes ultimately wrong, things because it's "good enough", and lays the groundwork for further learning. What you learn in high school is not the full truth of anything, you're expected to continue learning.

High school teaches bare-bones biology of sex: it teaches a basic sex binary, xx/xy, and so on. It's "good enough". Plus, the full story is too complex to fit in to a single lesson and there are a lot of other subjects to cover. The full list of chromosomal combinations is never mentioned.

High school teaches that water boils at 100°C. It does not teach that the boiling point decreases at higher elevations. That's because the 100° answer is good enough. Teachers don't mention the true complexity because it'd confuse kids, and maybe make them fail their exams.

I was way off 😂 To be fair I'd figured it was inspired by, rather than a full rendering; the shape just really reminded me of the central keep. Great work, btw 😊
